Crater Lake
It’s really hard to describe how visually stunning this place is. Totally worth the trip to Oregon just to see, especially if you can manage to secure a night at the bare bones Crater Lake Lodge overlooking the entire basin. The deepest lake in the US, it was formed in the caldera of the collapsed Mount Mazama 7,700 years ago. It is fed totally by rain and snow, no streams or rivers run in or out. The water is a deep, clear blue line you’ve never seen before. Besides the walks around the caldera and short drives to more stunning viewing platforms, the park is replete with various hikes of varying length and difficulty.
